Modified Holt’s Linear Trend Method Based on Particle Swarm Optimization
Exponential smoothing methods have been commonly used for time series forecasting. Holt’s linear trend exponential smoothing is a well-known exponential smoothing method and it can give successful forecasting results for time series which have trend component. In this study, a new modified Holt method is introduced. In modified Holt method, update formulas have second order lagged terms apart from classical Holt method. Moreover, initial values for trend and level and smoothing parameters are estimated by using particle swarm optimization. Strong and weak sides of the modified Holt method are investigated by using real-world data sets and simulated data sets.

In February 2020, visitors to the Vladikavkaz Dendraria observed huge clusters of small jumping insects caused by a thaw in the snow. On external signs, they looked like fleas and this circumstance caused fear among visitors. Articles with frightening headlines and reviews appeared in the media. Dendraria employees noted in their publications that these are snow fleas that pose absolutely no danger to humans and pets. Status of Surface Water from Selected Areas of Coastal Guyana and Selective Removal of Pb2+ and Fe2+ using Pulverized Coconut Fibres

Guyana’s surface and domestic water needs constant monitoring to assess the concentration of toxic anions and cations. The status of surface water at five selected areas: Blairmont, Bath, Bushlot, Belladrum and Mahaicony surface water was assessed in terms of the parameters discussed. In all cases, the concentration of cations and anions were below the WHO standard. Only at Mahaicony surface water, the concentration of Cl ̄ was above the WHO standards. The adsorbents (coconut fibres) was selective in its removal of Pb2+ at Bushlot, Mahaicony and Belladrum surface water. Modeling Sources of Fracture Toughness for an Intercalated Nanoclay/Epoxy

The novelty of this paper is to quantify the contribution of micro mechanisms caused the changes in fracture behavior of a model system epoxy resin by introduction of intercalated nano clay. To achieve this aim, a combination of fracture toughness measurements, electron and optical microscopy assessments and analytical models have been used. The results obtained indicated that addition of intercalated nano clay increased fracture toughness of the epoxy resin, although the increases in toughness were modest. Examination of fracture surfaces and subsurface damage revealed the presence of crack deflection, par-ticle bridging and crack branching/microcracking mechanisms. In agricultural machinery, the trend of using more and more engineering polymers subjected to abrasive wear started years ago. This short review focuses on the possibility of a fully biodegradable composite (PLA/Hemp fibre) as wear material for abrasive applications. It is proved that there are operating conditions where PLA/HF composite can play role. Engineering polymers in agricultural machinery are applied mainly due to agro-technical and tribo-mechanical reasons. Polymers can achieve a significant weight reduction of the machines that can reduce the risk of soil compaction. Mass transfer limitations due to decreasing permeabilities of the absorbing matrix has been observed to decrease the performance of thermochemical energy storage systems. In this study, the permeability of a reactive complex consisting ammoniated magnesium chloride salt and graphite was measured. For numerical simulation, the modification of the S.K. Godunov scheme of increased accuracy is used, the same for both gas-dynamic and elastoplastic flow. Study of Phase Formation In The Cute-As2te3System

By the methods of DTA, XRD, MSA, as well as by measuring the microhardness and determining the den-sity of the alloys, the CuTe-As2Te3 system was studied and a phase diagram was constructed. The system state diagram is of the eutectic type and is characterized by one chemical compound of Cu3As4Te9 compo-sition. Compounds Cu3As4Te9 melts incongruently at 320 °C. Solid solutions based on As2Te3 reaches 8mol. % and based on CuTe solid solutions are practically not installed. Cu3As4Te9 and As2Te3 form a eutectic composition of 45mol. % As2Te3 and temperature of 265 °C.

Integration of Cost Volume Profit Analysis under Uncertainty in Profit Planning: A Current Application

Use of cost-volume-profit analysis for actual planning is often limited by an inability to properly in-corporate uncertainty in the analysis when assumptions about known price and costs do not hold. We use currently available analysis software (MAPLE) in this study to demonstrate that uncertainty can be incor-porated in Cost-Volume-Profit analysis and planning in practice. We show in our examples that expected selling price and variable cost changes have greater influence on expected breakeven sales levels than the impact of the standard deviations of selling price and variable cost. In particular, decreases in the ex-pected selling price are shown to lead to significantly sharp declines in the expected breakeven quantity. Peritoneal carcinomatosis (PC) is an important and not rare cause of morbidity and mortality among patients with gastric cancer. Younger age(less than 65 years) female gender, advanced T- and N-stage, a primary tumor of signet ring cells or linitis plastica, and primary tumors covering multiple anatomical locations of the stomach were all associated with a higher odds ratios of developing PC. An Initial Profile and Virological Response of Sars-Cov-2 Infected Patients Admitted to Infectious Diseases Hospital of Northern India

Background: SARS-CoV-2 infection has affected the entire world with India being reporting cases since late of February 2020. As India is a tropical country the disease might behave differently and with different outcomes in contrast with temperate ones. Materials and Methods: We enrolled consecutive patients admitted with diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 and evaluated them by pre-formed proforma to record epidemiology, history, examination and investigation. All cases were diagnosed by RT-PCR for SARS CoV2 from nasopharyngeal sample. Final outcome, hospital stays and viral clearance was estimated. Docetaxel-Induced Supravenous Serpentine Dermatitis: A Case Report

Background: Supra-venous serpentine dermatitis is a rare and self-limited cutaneous reaction to various chemotherapeutic agents. Case presentation: We describe a case of supra-venous serpentine dermatitis triggered by docetaxel in a middle-aged female patient who received chemotherapy for triple negative breast cancer. Lesions affected the chest, neck, and the arm that was used to infuse docetaxel. The diagnosis was based on skin biopsy results showing pathology consistent with an interface dermatitis. The patient was treated with oral and topical glucocorticoids. Her second cycle of chemotherapy was infused at a slower rate, preceded and followed by boluses of normal saline. Application of NIR Spectroscopy to Evaluate the Soil Fertility at the Field Scale
The Near Infrared Reflectance Spectroscopy (VIS-NIRS) allows for quick analysis of soil abundance in basic macronutrients and development of fertilizer application maps. This article compares the results for pH and soil abundance in available forms of phosphorus, potassium and magnesium estimated using near-infrared spectroscopy in the 580-1850nm range and on the basis of standard laboratory methods. Soil samples were taken from a field of 20.6ha, from the surface of each polygon defined by a grid of squares with sides of 50x50m. The total soil sample (80) assigned to the square 50x50m taken from the arable layer to a depth of 0.2m. Mathematical modeling of the structure of vortex zones between periodic surface-located flow turbulators of a semicircular and square cross-section is carried out on the basis of multi-block computational technologies based on the solution of the factorized finite-volume method of the Reynolds equations (closed with the help of the Menter shear stress transfer mode) and the energy equation (on different-scale intersecting structured grids). This method was previously successfully applied and verified by experiment. An exhaustive analysis of the corresponding streamlines is presented, proving the advantage of abruded turbulators.
