Abstract

Every year 590 million kilograms of pumpkins are disposed of in landfills as organic waste. Organic waste makes-up approximately 34% of landfill mass. In order to reduce organic waste going to landfills, an alternative use of the waste or upcycling pumpkins into useful nanoparticles is described.
