Abstract

There are many sources of the nation’s current economic angst and malaise including: growing income and wealth inequality, overemphasis on economic efficiency relative to social equity, little access to essentials such as health, food and shelter for too many in our society, corruption and greed in industry and government, financial engineering schemes to avoid taxes. These arise from insufficient creation of economic value for growth and general well-being, while massive profits are dispersed to idle accounts and unproductive assets.
