Bialystok University of Technology, Poland
The professional work he began, still during the course of studies, in 1960, as the technical assistant in the Department of Crystallography at Warsaw University. During this employment, my main duties were maintenance, and the modification of the research equipment. Simultaneously he conducted the own investigations which become the basis of graduates work. The X-ray diffraction studies on the structure of the crystals of chemical compounds formed by entrapping of the cobalt chloride molecules in the crystal lattice of urea. In 1964 he received the proposal of the employment at the Institute of General Chemistry in Warsaw, in which he started investigations of the structure of polymers, and also the structure of catalysts using X-ray diffraction methods. The co-operation with industrial institutions, mainly those producing synthetic fibers attracted my attention to the number of problems, to which there was no answer in the literature. In the 1967 a possibility appeared to enroll at the doctoral studies at just created Division of Polymer Physics at the Institute of Fundamental Technological Research at Polish Academy of Sciences (IPPT PAN) to which he was accepted. After approximately a year of participation in the doctoral studies, he was engaged as the fulltime employee at the same division in IPPT PAN. The creation of the laboratory, and the conducting investigations on the formation of structures in polymeric materials became my main duties. The main idea of conducted research was studying formation of structures in conditions resembling the real conditions occurring in the industrial processes, and the comparison of results with those obtained in the conditions of „classic” experiments. Investigations conducted in IPPT PAN were the basis of my doctors (PhD) thesis, and later of DSc (habilitation) dissertation. During the work at IPPT PAN he linked the number of contacts with many researchers in Poland and abroad, and he was offered several foreign contracts, due to which he got the knowledge of modern research facilities, and acquaintance with the methods being used in leading laboratories as well as a possibility to perform several collaborative research tasks.
