Abstract

Klebsiella pneumoniae is associated with respiratory infection, liver abscess and meningitis but rarely pneumocephalus. In recent decades, only eight cases of pneumocephalus caused by K. pneumoniae in non-operative and non-traumatic patients have been found. Here we describe a fatal case of pneumocephalus caused by a hypermucoviscous hydrogen-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae strain in an immunocompromised diabetic patient.
