Abstract

In this mini-review occupational diseases (ODs) in the offshore oil and gas industry and the petrochemical sector are discussed. A disappointing number of publications during half a century yields a picture of hearing noise damage, musculoskelatal disorders (MSDs), debated cancers and dermatitis as main ODs. Crucial information about exposures at work places, working history and life styles to establish causal relationships is missing. Little attention is paid to job stress and mental health, addictions and COPD at the work place.
